EMU Defeats LC Women 76-46

HARRISONBURG, VA – The Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team opened an early 16-2 lead and never looked back in a 76-46 victory Saturday over visiting Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest. It is the last regular-season game for both teams.

The Royals led 40-17 at the break and turned the advantage into a 31-point lead at 50-19. The EMU defense held LC to just 16 percent shooting in the first half (5-32) and 28 percent for the game (19-68).

Senior Ann Dorris paced LC with 11 points, three assists and two steals, and Sarah Coroneladded eight points. Lauren Penley posted seven points and a team-high five rebounds.

Bianca Ygarza scored a game-high 12 points to go along with seven rebounds for Eastern Mennonite (21-4/15-1 ODAC), the top seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. Steph Rheinheimer had 11 points and five rebounds, while Jess Rheinheimer tallied 10 points and a game-high eight caroms.

The Hornets (15-10/12-4 ODAC) will enter next week's conference tournament as the #3 seed and will receive a first-round bye into the quarterfinals. The will complete Thursday at 8 p.m. in Salem, VA against the winner of Roanoke College and Washington & Lee's first-round contest.
