BUFFALO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo junior forward Shannon McGinnis scored a game-high 14 points while sophomore Allison McKenna totaled a double-double 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Knights to a 75-45 victory at Buffalo State in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball, Saturday.
Geneseo (16-6, 10-5 SUNYAC) jumped out to a 35-18 halftime lead on the Bengals, which entered the day atop the current SUNYAC standings, and never looked back, avenging a 77-64 home loss on Jan. 14.
The Knights put together another strong defensive effort, holding Buffalo State to 5-of-30 (.167) shooting in the first half and 15-of-73 for the game (.205).
"Today was a total team effort," said head coach Scott Hemer. "We worked very hard on the defensive end and on the boards. That kind of commitment goes a long way."

The Knights responded with a 15-2 outburst to take a 31-13 lead with 3:12 remaining and held a 35-18 edge at intermission.
In the second half, the Bengals (18-5, 13-3 SUNYAC) would get within nine points, 40-31, with 15:13 on the clock, but Geneseo would pull away down the stretch. Leading, 57-45, with 6:42 remaining, the Knights would hold the Bengals scoreless the rest of the way as the hosts went 0-for-16 from the field.
Geneseo first-year Bridgit Ryan scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half, while sophomore guard Dana Cohan totaled 13 points for the game.
The Knights will travel to Cortland on Tuesday for a 6:00 p.m. tip-off with the Red Dragons.
