Marymount Women’s Hoops Defeats Frostburg State to Complete Season Sweep

Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team completed a season sweep over visiting Frostburg State with a 77-55 victory in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.  The Saints improve to 15-8 overall and 10-4 in league play.

Four Saints scored in double-figures led by Aileen Maknati with 15 points off the bench.  Kievanna Lacey added 14 while Miranda Krott and Katelyn Fischer both chipped in 12.

Krott nearly posted a double-double with nine rebounds while Fischer added seven assists and six boards.

Trading leads to open the game, a 6-6 tie at the 15:51 mark quickly turned to the Saints favor courtesy of a 15-0 run over the next four minutes.  A pair of free throws from Daja Belt with 9:28 to play gave the Blue and White their first 20-point lead of the game, up 28-8, before leading by as many as 24 in the frame en route to a 45-27 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Saints kept the pace and led by no fewer than 15 points the rest of the game.  Marymount led by as many as 26 late in the half off of a pair of Fischer free throws.

Elaina Hummel led Frostburg State (7-15, 3-11 CAC) with a game-high 18 points.

Marymount returns to the hardwood as it travels to face Salisbury in CAC action on Wednesday.
