FOREST GROVE – No. 7 ranked George Fox put up shots at a blistering clip in the first half Tuesday night, building all of the cushion they needed en route to an 87-66 victory over Pacific in Northwest Conference women's basketball action at the Stoller Center.

The game was won not with accuracy, but with volume.  George Fox shot 46.9 percent from the field while the Boxers shot 43.6 percent, but the Bruins made six more shots from the field and converted nine more free throws on nine more attempts.  Both teams shot 51.9 percent from the field in the second half in a fast-paced, evenly played period.

Sarah Curl (Fr., Portland, Ore.) led three Pacific players to score in double figures, finishing with 18 points along with a game-high seven rebounds.  Olivia Mayorga-Overtone (Jr., Oakland, Calif.) added 15 points while Olivia Cook (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) scored 12.  The Boxers finished shooting 24 of 55 from the field and 8 of 17 from three-point range, but were outrebounded 38-32 and forced into 22 turnovers.

Justin Brenner and Jami Roos each scored 19 points to pace George Fox, who finished the night shooting 30 of 64 from the field, 8 of 21 from three-point range and 19 of 24 from the free throw line.  Nicole Blizzard scored 16 points and Megan Arnoldy added 15.

With the win, George Fox, ranked No. 7 in the latest D3Hoops.com Top 25 Poll, improved to 19-1, 10-1 NWC.  Pacific dropped to 6-14, 2-10 NWC.

Pacific never led in the contest as the Bruins worked fast to bury the Boxers early.  George Fox pushed their advantage to 19-9 on Blizzard's lay-in at the 11:06 mark.  Pacific came back to within eight on their next possession, but a free throw by Benner at the 10:09 mark ignited a 20-9 run over an eight-minute span.  Dacia Heckendorf's three-pointer with 2:20 left closed the run, which gave George Fox a 36-17 lead.  The Bruins went into the half with a 41-24 advantage.

George Fox opened the second half on a 6-0 run, opening up their biggest lead of the night at 23 points when Roos' lay-in made it 47-24.  Pacific would managed to cut the lead to 15 points midway through the stanza when Mayorga-Overtone's jumper made it 67-52.  The Bruins would extend the lead past the 20-point mark again with seven minutes to go and would match the Boxers point-for-point the rest of the way.

Tonight's game was originally scheduled to be played last Friday, but was postponed due to the heavy snowfall in the Willamette.  The Boxers return to action on Friday, heading north to take on Pacific Lutheran.  George Fox will play in one of the biggest games in the nation on Friday as they play at No. 4 Whitman.
