Riverdale, NY - Rebecca Resor (Bay St. Louis, MS) tallied a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds Thursday night but the USMMA women's basketball team suffered a 76-56 loss at Mount Saint Vincent.  Demi VanDerWal (Springfield, IL) paced the Mariners with 20 points while freshman Julie Mall (Littlestown, PA) also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.  USMMA shot just 30 percent from the floor and was 1-of-10 from three-point range.

Merchant Marine (4-14) held an 11-9 edge at the 15:41 mark of the first half following a Mall jump shot.  However, the home team would then engineer a 18-6 run as a Kelly Fraser layup made it a 27-15 affair with 7:53 to play in the opening period.

Mount Saint Vincent (15-4) kept the momentum for the remainder of the half and took a 40-21 advantage into the intermission.  The Dolphins were led by Fraser, who closed the night with 15 points and 12 rebounds.  Three times in the second half USMMA climbed to within 12 points but  was unable to cut the deficit to single digits.

Alexandra Winfree (Millstone, NJ) grabbed a season high 11 rebounds for Merchant Marine, who held a 39-31 advanage on the glass.  The Mariners committed 22 turnovers in the loss, which resulted in 29 points for the Dolphins.

The USMMA women's basketball team returns to the court Saturday afternoon at 2:00 PM for a "Think Pink" contest against Goucher.
