CLINTON, MS (02.06.14) - Christina Brosnahan and Morgan Kilgore each scored 25 points as the UT Dallas women's basketball team earned a 71-60 road win over Mississippi College Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.

The Comets (now 17-3, 14-3 ASC) tighten their grip on second place in the ASC after picking up their fourth straight win. UTD remains one game behind league-leader Texas-Tyler and is still a full game ahead of third-place Mary Hardin-Baylor with five games left on the conference slate.

UTD opened the game on a 7-0 run and never trailed as the Comets shot better than 50 percent from the floor for the second straight contest. UTD was 29-of-56 (51.8%) against the Choctaws, hitting 7-of-18 three-pointers, in the Comets' 13th double-digit victory of the season.

Leading 30-24 at the break, the Comets secured their first double-digit lead of the night, 38-26, with 17:37 left to play on an old-fashioned three-point play by Brosnahan. The 12-point lead would be the largest lead of the night, however, for UTD as the Choctaws slowly clawed back. MC drew within five points, 52-47, with 7:35 remaining, but the Comets answered with back-to-back field goals by Kilgore to take back control of the game.

Brosnahan was 10-of-14 from the field, hitting four three-pointers, en route to her new career high. Kilgore was 11-of-17 and 3-for-4 from the foul line as she reached double figures for the 27th consecutive game, dating back to last season. It was Kilgore's third-straight and ninth-overall 20-point game of the season. The duo accounted for more than 70 percent of the Comets' offensive production.

The Comets hit 6-of-9 (66.7%) free throws and were out-rebounded by the Choctaws, 35-29.

For MC (now 8-11, 6-10 ASC), got a team-high 19 points from Alexus Stirgus to lead three Choctaws in double figures. Dominique Walker came off the bench for 18 points while Cara Beverin added 10 points. MC shot 38.5 percent (20-of-52) from the field, hitting just 2-of-7 three-pointers (28.6%), and shot 78.3 percent (18-of-23) from the free-throw line.

The Comets continue their short two-game road trip Saturday afternoon at Louisiana College. Game time is 1 p.m. in Pineville, La.
