Lexie Greenheck (So.-Oostburg, Wis.) keyed a big night for the bench and the Lakeland College women's basketball team showed its strength at the end of both halves in an 81-73 win over Alma (Mich.) College Friday night in a non-conference game.

Greenheck notched career highs of 16 points and seven rebounds to lead four players scoring in double figures for the Muskies, who evened their record at 1-1. Lakeland won for the second straight year over Alma, which dropped to 0-4 this year.

The Muskies received a big lift from their reserves, who combined for 40 points and came out shooting hot from the outside. Lakeland was 10 of 26 from three-point range in the game, and bench players were 9-for-18 from behind the arc.

Greenheck made 5 of 6 field goal tries in easily setting her collegiate career scoring high. The sophomore forward drained 4 of 5 three-point attempts and also was a part of the deciding run of the game for Lakeland.

Greenheck made two free throws with 6:46 to play to put the Muskies ahead 61-60, and she followed with a three-pointer on the next possession. Lakeland would run off eight straight points and never trailed again, eventually building its lead to 11 points late and then holding off the Scots at the free throw line.

The Muskies also closed the first half strong, scoring the final 10 points of the half to take a 41-39 halftime lead after trailing much of the half. Trista Barron (So.-Escanaba, Mich.) and Paige Papineau (Jr.-Green Bay, Wis.) both hit three-pointers as part of the run, which was capped by two free throws by Kayla Clark (Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) just before halftime.

Leah Eisner (Sr.-Stevens Point, Wis.) finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, and Taylor Jandrin (Sr.-Forestville, Wis.) joined Greenheck off the bench with a productive game, finishing with 13 points. Clark also added 12 points, six rebounds and a team-high five assists, and made 10 of 13 from the foul line.

The Muskies shot 45.2% from the floor for the game, making 28 of 62 shots. Lakeland also took care of the ball considerably better than its opener, committing 16 turnovers, 19 less than the team's total of 35 in its opening loss to Calvin (Mich.) College.

Mallory Pruett led Alma with 19 points and eight rebounds. The Scots started off shooting well early but cooled off to 42.2% for the game (27 of 64).

The Muskies return to action Tuesday night when they travel to face the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. in Oshkosh.
