Rosemont Battles Back to Edge Giants, 92-88

Rosemont, PA – Rosemont College rallied from a seven-point deficit with just over seven minutes remaining in regulation to edge Keystone College, 92-88, in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.  The Ravens improve to 7-11 on the season and level their conference record at 5-5 while the loss drops the Giants to 12-8 on the season and 6-5 in league play.
 
Keystone jumped out to a 21-11 advantage eight minutes into Saturday afternoon's contest after AAliya Hayes (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) hit on a pair of free throws, but Rosemont used a 19-9 run to level the contest at 30-30 with 1:40 remaining in the opening half.  The Giants scored the game's next six points with Alyssa Cuomo (Odessa, DE/Hodgson Vo-tech)'s three pointer with 53 seconds left gave the visitors a 36-30 lead and Keystone held a 38-34 edge at halftime.
 
Ashley Evans (Wooster, OH/Wooster) led the Giants with 13 points while Cuomo finished with 10 points in the first half.  Hayes had five rebounds in the stanza to pace Keystone, who shot 38.9 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.7 percent from the free throw line.
 
Liz Coyne had 12 points and five rebounds for Rosemont, who also got eight points from Brianna Macauley and five boards from Lauren Whelan.  The Ravens connected on 41.2 percent of their attempts from the field in the half while going 1-5 from three-point land and 5-7 from the charity stripe. 
 
Rosemont was able to build a 49-46 lead early in the second half before Keystone rattled off 10 straight points to claim a 58-51 advantage with 14:16 remaining in regulation.  The Giants stayed in front and held a 72-65 lead with 7:50 left on the clock after Jazmyn Robinson (Hyattsville, MD/Northwestern) hit on a pair of free throws, but the Ravens whittled away at Keystone's lead and tied the game at 84-apiece with two minutes to play.  The two teams traded bucket with Robinson tying the game at 88-88 with 29 seconds to play, but Rosemont scored the final four points of the game to pull out the victory.
 
Coyne finished with a game-high 36 points to go along with 11 rebounds to end the contest with a double-double while Macauley netted 22 points in the victory.  Curtrena Goff led all players with eight assists for the Ravens, who also held a 41-33 advantage in rebounds for the game.  Rosemont finished the afternoon shooting 52.1 percent from the field while going just 1-8 from beyond the arc.  The hosts were solid at the line though, going 17-20 on free throws.
 
Evans paced five Keystone players in double-figures with 22 points to go along with six rebounds.  Robinson added 18 points, a game-high five steals, and a team-best three helpers while Cuomo (15), Chantel Blake (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) (15), and Hayes (13) also reached double-digits in points.  Blake was the Giants leading rebounder after collecting eight boards in the loss.  Keystone finished the game shooting 46.3 percent from the field while going 3-10 from downtown and 23-28 from the stripe.
 
Keystone will return to action next Saturday when they visit Neumann University for a key, CSAC matchup scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
