Randolph-Macon Breaks LC Women's Win Streak with 91-73 Victory

ASHLAND, VA – A strong second-half led the Randolph-Macon College women's basketball team to a 91-73 victory Saturday over Lynchburg College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The loss breaks a six-game win streak for the Hornets.

LC opened a six-point lead at 21-15 at the 10-minute mark after back-to-back baskets from Ann Dorris and Sammi Goldsmith. The rest of the half went back and forth but the Yellow Jackets opened an eight-point lead with 2:40 remaining. The Hornets scored six of the last seven points to trail just 40-37 into intermission.

R-MC led 64-55 with 10 minutes left and pulled away with a 16-3 run.

Junior Shannon Allan scored a team-high 18 points, hitting all 10 of her free throws, and added six rebounds. Chaney Forbush posted 13 points and 10 rebounds and Lauren Penley had 11 points and seven caroms. Forbush and Penley were limited to a combined 42 minutes with foul trouble, and both eventually fouled out. Charmaine Hairston had nine points and three steals while Goldsmith had eight points and tied for the game-high with six assists.

Katie Anderson tallied game-highs of 24 points and 14 rebounds, sinking 8-of-12 shots from the floor for RMC (14-5/7-3 ODAC). Taylor Huber scored 23 points and Sarah Parsons had 12 points.

The Hornets (11-8/8-2 ODAC) host Guilford College Wednesday at 7 p.m.
