(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) - Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) scored a game-high 36 points to lead the fifth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a, 112-49, win over Grove City College today (Saturday, January 25, 2014) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 17-0 overall and 10-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Wolverines fall to 4-12 overall and 3-7 in the PAC.
The Saints built a 63-15 lead at halftime as they shot 60.5 percent from the field (23-of-38), including 55.6 percent from behind the three-point arc (five-of-nine) and 100 percent from the free-throw line (12-of-12). Thomas More out-scored Grove City, 34-10, in the paint and 30-0 off turnovers. At the half, Moss had 26 points and junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) had 18.
In the second half, Thomas More shot 64 percent from the field (16-of-25) to lead by as many as 67 points as it out-scored the Wolverines 49-34 and went on to the 112-49 win.
Senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) dished out five assists and tied the Thomas More single-season assist record with 145.
Moss led three Saints in double-figure scoring as Burgoyne finished with 25 points and senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) added 16. Burgoyne led the team on the boards with a game-high eight rebounds, while junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in assists with six and Moss led the team in steals with five.
Thomas More closes out its three-game home stand on Wednesday (January 29) when it hosts Chatham University at 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
