La Roche's Cygan Scores 33 in Win Over D'Youville

BUFFALO, NY -- La Roche women's basketball (14-3, 9-1) overtook first place in the AMCC Conference standings with a 77-54 victory over D'Youville College (8-10, 6-5) on Saturday evening.

The Lady Redhawks jumped out to a 44-24 halftime lead thanks to a 14-0 run early in the contest. Casie Cygan scored 24 first half points and Danasha Harris grabbed 11 rebounds to guide the Redhawks over the first twenty minutes.

La Roche continued to possess the ball and play tough defense in the second half as they cruised to the big conference victory.

Cygan tallied a game-high 33 points and went 5 for 8 from beyond the arc. Harris registered another double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds (11 offensive, 6 defensive) while LaShauna Brothers added 10 points.

La Roche assisted on 18 of 27 field goals and grabbed 43 rebounds. They also made 8 of 17 three-pointers (47%) and converted 63% (15 of 24) free throws.

The Lady Redhawks will host Penn State Altoona on Wednesday in an AMCC Conference game. The Lady Lions have won three straight games.
