DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Brittany Wood scored 13 of her game-high 15 points in the second half as Delaware Valley College rallied from a nine-point deficit to notch a 55-53 home victory over The College of New Jersey in a non-conference game.

The win was the third straight for the Aggies and their eighth in their last 10 contests as they improved to 10-5. The loss dropped the Lions to 11-4.

Delaware Valley struggled from the field in the first half, especially from 3-point land where it hit just one of 14 attempts. Meanwhile, TCNJ was 5-for-12 from beyond the arc in the first 20 minutes and it took a 29-22 lead into the break.

Wood and the Aggies then began to heat up. After the Lions got a layup to start the scoring in the half, Wood drained a 3-pointer. TCNJ scored six of the next 10 points, but Wood and Bridget Sobon hit back-to-back treys to make it a two-point game. Delaware Valley continued its run as Kelsey Kilpatrick hit a layup on a fast break and Sobon sank two free throws for 10 straight points and a 39-37 lead with 11:10 remaining.

The Lions responded with a 9-0 run over the next three minutes, including seven from Tiffany DeTulio, to regain the lead at 46-39. Back came the Aggies as jumper by Shannon Barlow, a trey from Wood and a layup from Eireann Anastasi tied it up with 6:22 left.

The game was still at a deadlock as the clock ticked under the two-minute mark. Brenna Coll was fouled with 1:54 to go and the Delaware Valley junior hit one of two free throws for a 50-49 advantage. The Lions got two looks on their next possession but they missed both and Wood was fouled with 1:10 remaining. She hit one from the line for a two-point score.

TCNJ missed a 3-pointer on its next possession, but Kelly Roddy stripped the ball away from an Aggie at halfcourt and she went in for the easy layup to tie the game at 51-51 with 37 seconds left. Delaware Valley quickly came down and Agatha Drozd hit a layup just five ticks later.

The Lions' Liz West was fouled after an offensive rebound with 18 seconds left, but she managed to hit just one of two free throws and the Aggies were still up by one. Wood was then fouled with 13.5 seconds to go and she swished both for a 55-52 lead.

TCNJ came down and looked for the game-tying 3-pointer. Kylie O'Donnell got a good look from the right side but it clanked off the rim. However, a foul was called on Delaware Valley away from the ball while the shot was in the air and Kelly Coughlin went to the free throw line with three-tenths of a second. She hit the first and intentionally missed the second to try to give her team a chance at a quick putback. However, the rebounds went out of bounds and the Aggies celebrated the win.

Strong defense from both teams saw each finish the game under 36 percent shooting from the field. Delaware Valley improved its 3-point shooting in the second half as it was 4-for-7 from 3-point land while the Lions struggled to a 1-for-12 effort.

In addition to her 15 points, Wood had a team-high eight rebounds. Sobon came off the bench to score 10 points in 16 minutes while Coll had eight points and seven boards.

DeTulio led TCNJ with 14 points while Roddy had nine points and three steals. O'Donnell led all players with 10 rebounds.
