Moss Records Seventh Double-Double in No. 6 Saints' 89-64 Win at Saint Vincent

(LATROBE, Pa.) – Sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County) recorded her seventh double-double of the season as she scored 29 points and pulled down 12 rebounds today (Saturday, January 18, 2014) to lead the sixth-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Saint Vincent College, 89-64, in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Carey Center in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 15-0 overall and 8-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 10-5 overall and 7-1 in the PAC.

Thomas More took an early 23-7 lead with 12:54 to play in the first half when sophomore guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) made a three-pointer.  Saint Vincent answered with a 7-2 run capped by two Drew Meeker free-throws to cut the lead to 25-14 with 10:59 to play in the half.  The Saints responded with a 17-1 run to take their biggest lead of the half at 42-18 with 4:00 to play in the half when junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) made two free-throws.  The Bearcats closed out the half on a 12-5 run to cut the lead to 47-30 at halftime when Ally Schmidt made a lay-up with 15-seconds to play in the first half.

The Saints opened the second half on a 21-6 run to extend the lead to 68-36 with 13:02 to play in the game when Huber made a lay-up. Saint Vincent closed the game on a 28-21 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 89-64.

Senior guard Devin Beaasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) broke her school record for assists in a game as she dished out 18 assists in the game.  She was three assists shy of the NCAA Division III single-game record of 21.  Three Saints joined Moss in double-figure scoring as Burgoyne had 19 points, senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) added 14 and Huber finished with 11.  Moss also led the team in steals with three.

Thomas More returns to action on Wednesday (January 22) at it opens a three-game home stand as it hosts Bethany College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
