Cyclones Roll Past Cairn To Complete Season Sweep

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – All 11 members of the Centenary College women's basketball team made at least one basket as the Cyclones cruised to an 82-20 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory over Cairn on Saturday, completing a season sweep of the Highlanders.
 
Senior guard Klarissa Perry (Englewood, N.J./Dwight Morrow) scored 15 points (7-11 FG) to pace the Cyclones, who shot 44 percent (34-77) from the field. Freshman Jessie Sharr (Belvidere, N.J./Belvidere) reached double figures for the third-straight game, scoring 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while grabbing seven rebounds.
 
The Highlanders (0-11, 0-7 CSAC) tallied the game's first points, but Centenary used a 13-0 run over the next 6:16 to take control. Sophomore guard Ally Fugnitti's (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) gave Centenary its biggest lead of the half (36) by canning a three-pointer with 28 seconds to play before the break.
 
In all, Fugnitti drained a trio of triples for nine points and added seven boards, three assists and two steals. Centenary tallied 20 thefts and forced 29 Highlander turnovers.
 
The Cyclones opened the second half with a 16-0 run and maintained a lead greater than 50 points for the remainder of the stanza.
 
Freshman Mallory George (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston), Kelsey Barofski (White Township, N.J./Belvidere) and Heather Yaros (Hopatcong, N.J./Hopatcong) all contributed eight points. Making her collegiate debut, Yaros also grabbed two boards, while Barofski pulled down six rebounds. George added four assists, three steals and three boards.
 
Amie Eppolito led Cairn with eight points, while EJ Hartzler added six.
 
Centenary (6-9, 4-3 CSAC) visits the College of New Rochelle on Thursday for its final non-conference game of the season.
