IWU Women Extend Win Streak to Five, Defeat Wheaton

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan women's basketball team extended its win streak to five when the Titans overcame Wheaton, 93-85, Saturday (Jan. 18) night at the Shirk Center. Senior Colleen McMahon scored 26 points, while four other Titans had double-digit performances.
 
IWU is 11-5 overall and 5-0 in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while the nationally No. 12-ranked Thunder are 12-3 and 3-2 in the league. IWU stays in a first place tie atop the CCIW with Carthage, who is 5-0 after a 73-63 win at Millikin Saturday.
 
The Titans forced 16 Wheaton turnovers in the first half to help IWU to a 45-37 lead at halftime.
 
In the second half, Wheaton came within one possession of IWU with 7:06 remaining, but the Titans closed the opportunity and went on a 7-0 in three minutes to swing the momentum until the buzzer.
 
The Thunder narrowly outrebounded IWU, 35-33, while Wheaton had 25 total turnovers to the Titans' 16.
