Sewanee, Tenn. (Jan. 17, 2014) – Sewanee Head Women's Basketball Coach Dickie McCarthy will look to become the winningest coach in program in history Saturday, as the Tigers welcome Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre to Juhan Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.

McCarthy, who now has 95 career victories at Sewanee, is currently tied with former coach Nancy Ladd after the Tigers defeated Johnson University (63-57) on Tuesday.

In that game, sophomore Jamie Chauvin led all scorers with a career-high 28 points. The second-year guard opened the game by scoring 13 first-half points on 5-of-9 shooting. That in return helped the Tigers make 43.3 percent of their field goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Eventually, Sewanee would settle for a season-high 42.6 field goal percentage.

Chauvin, who leads the team in scoring, has scored in double figures six times this season. The Nashville, Tenn., native is averaging 12.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and 1.6 apg.

Also individually, sophomore forward Casey Hassett has played well over the past two weeks. Hassett scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and finished with four blocks against Johnson. In fact, Hassett has at least two blocks and five rebounds in four straight contests.

Centre travels to Sewanee after winning three straight games. The Colonels have not lost since its one-point defeat against Asbury on January 2.

Individually, senior Paige Baechle leads the Colonels in a number of statistical categories. Baechle is currently averaging 18.1 points and 11.8 rebounds per game while shooting 50.3 percent from the field. She ranks in the top three in the SAA in all three categories.
