LANCASTER, Pa. – Elizabethtown ended the first half of its final non-conference game of the regular season on a 26-7 run, breaking open a two-point game with Lancaster Bible en route to a 72-55 victory Monday evening.

Rachel Forjan pumped in 21 points in 29 minutes on 6-of-11 shooting to lead the 11-1 Blue Jays. The York Catholic grad did most of her damage in the first half, scoring 16 points. She hit two of her three 3-pointers in the half, as well as all six of her foul shots.

LBC proved pesky early on its home court after falling 80-53 to the Jays at Thompson Gymnasium last season. Shanice Smith converted a 3-point play on the Chargers' (6-5) opening possession and Aubrey Folger hit a jumper off an E-town turnover to give LBC a 5-0 lead 51 seconds in.

Both teams failed to find their rhythm in the opening minutes, as the lead exchanged hands five times. A jumper from Taylor Kreider that put Elizabethtown in front 15-13 with 12:53 to go in the first half would be the only basket for either team over the next 2:11.

Luckily for the visitors, they got going when Kreider found Alyssa Aichele for a pair with 7:51 left in the half. Elizabethtown used the basket to start a 15-2 run that pushed their lead to 34-19 by the 2:23 mark.

Elizabethtown scored on its final eight possessions of the half, with freshman Nikki Thompson sinking a pair of threes on the last two to give the Jays their biggest lead of the half, 45-24, at the horn.

The Blue Jays grew the lead to as much as 25 in the second half. Lancaster Bible cut subtly into it late, but E-town was never in danager of losing the lead and putting the finishing touches on a 6-0 record against non-conference opponents this regular season.

Each of Elizabethtown's 10 healthy players scored points in the game. Forjan and Kreider (10 points) were the only players in double figures. Aichele and Emily Young had seven points apiece, while Thompson, Kendra Beittel and Emily Martin all scored six in the balanced effort.

To make up for its 36% shooting night (27-of-74), E-town protected the ball well, yielding just 11 turnovers to LBC's 23. The Jays were strong at the foul line, too, hitting 11-of-14.

E-town will return to Commonwealth Conference play Wednesday evening at Arcadia. Tip-off against the Knights is set for 6 p.m.
