Amherst Remains Perfect in Win over Rams

Farmingdale, N.Y. - The Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell 77-50 to the #3 ranked team in the nation tonight, Amherst College. The Jeffs remained perfect at 14-0, while the Rams fell to 5-6 overall with the loss.

Amherst led by eight early in the first, 13-5, and pushed the lead to as many as 15 points, as they knocked down seven three's (7-14) in the first half and finished 48-percent from the field. The Jeffs led 39-26 at the break with a 10-point, seven rebound half by junior forward Megan Robertson (Tewksbury, Mass.).

In the second, the Rams could not catch up as Amherst continued their impressive offense shooting 57-percent from long range and holding the double-digit lead throughout en route to the non-conference win.

Amherst was led by Robertson with a double-double of 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. Freshman guard Ali Doswell (Richmond, Va.) also posted a double-double with 14 points, 10 boards and three assists, while sophomore guard Marley Giddins (Irvington, N.Y.) posted 10 points and eight rebounds.

For Farmingdale State, Camille Romero finished with a game-high 21 points and three steals. The Rams will next host Purchase College for a Skyline Conference game on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 p.m.
