William Paterson Women’s Basketball Puts Away NJCU, 71-60

WAYNE, N.J. – An 11-2 run to open the second half allowed the William Paterson women's basketball team (7-7, 4-3 NJAC) to put away visiting New Jersey City (4-9, 1-6 NJAC), 71-60, Jan. 11.

 

Owning a 37-34 halftime advantage, four different Pioneers got into the scoring column to start the second period, allowing WP to surge ahead by a 48-36 count at the 14:58 mark. That lead remained in double digits for nearly the entire second half thanks to William Paterson's 49-31 rebounding edge and 47.1 (8-17) percent shooting from three-point range.

 

Senior guard Floriana Borova (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) paced the Pioneers with 16 points and a game-best seven assists, adding nine rebounds, and sophomore guard Brittany Harden (Millville, N.J./Sacred Heart) contributed 15 tallies. Senior forward Dana Jeter (Hamilton, N.J./Steinert) notched her fifth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career high-tying 15 boards.

 

Junior guard Ashley Vazquez led NJCU with 17 points, sophomore guard Kiana Briggs collected 13 tallies, five assists and four steals, and junior guard Jade Medley finished with 12 points. Sophomore forward Deseree Johnson had seven rebounds.

 

William Paterson will host Ramapo Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 6:00 p.m.
