FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.—In their first outing of the 2013 Cruzin Classic, the Randolph-Macon women's basketball team was lights-out as they topped previously undefeated Mount Saint Vincent 104-90 this afternoon at the Don Taft University Center. The outing marked R-MC's fourth 100+ point victory.
The Yellow Jackets offense was led by Sarah Parsons (Glen Allen, VA / J.R. Tucker) with 32 points. The junior guard was 10-19 from the field adding 3 three-pointers and 9-10 from the line. She also pulled down 3 boards. Parsons is just 23 points shy of 1,000 career points going into tomorrow's game.
Sophomore guard Khajae Hester (VA Beach, VA / Cape Henry Collegiate) contributed 24 points on the day, shooting 4-9 and 16-16 from the stripe. She also recorded a game-high 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Hannah Livermon (Powhatan, VA / Powhatan) tallied 17 points alongside Katie Anderson (Beaverdam, VA / Patrick Henry) who nabbed 10 points and a team-high 8 boards. Livermon was 4-13 from the field and finished with 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal.
Prior to today's matchup, R-MC was announced No. 24 in the country by the USA TODAY Coach's Poll.
The Jackets (9-1, 3-0 ODAC) are slated to face the College of New Jersey Thursday, December 19th at 10:00 AM to round out the 2013 Cruzin Classic.
