The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team scored early and often on its way to routing the Penn State Behrend Lions 65-38 on Wednesday, Jan. 8.  The Panthers hit the floor with a sense of urgency seeking a win after dropping their previous three games.

Junior Alicia Kimmel made it look easy on her way to pacing the Panthers with 15 points, six rebounds and two assists. Kimmel had little trouble scoring inside and found the short jump shot to be just as effective. Freshman Kaserra Owens continued her recent success on the court as she finished with 11 points and one assist.

Pitt-Bradford (7-4, 3-1) showed no fear and did not hold back when it came to pouring on the points. Barely into the early moments of the game, the Panthers held a 10-5 advantage and showed no signs of slowing down.

Minute by minute, the score went from a nine point lead to an 11 point lead to a 13 point lead. And the points kept coming. With five minutes remaining in the first half, Pitt-Bradford led 26-8, an 18 point advantage, and fans began to wonder if the Lions were going to find the net again during the contest.

Sophomore Allison Osborne drained a shot with 2:08 remaining to extend the Panthers lead to 23 points before the Lions found an answer.

A three-point shot by Penn State Behrend's Brianna Bayly with 41 seconds remaining until halftime sent the Lions to the locker room trailing 37-13.

Pitt-Bradford left the court shooting 54.8 percent from the floor and 100 percent (1-for-1) from the three-point line. The Panthers were 2-of-2 from the free-throw line.

The Lions finished the first half shooting just 29.4 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc. They were just 1-of-4 from the free-throw line.

Penn State Behrend (1-9, 0-4) attempted to inch its way back into the game in the second period but the deficit proved too much for it to handle.

The Lions were forced into attempting multiple three-point shots and their accuracy was not on-point during the contest. However, Penn State Behrend did find a way to improve its showing on the scoreboard compared to the first half.

In the end the Panthers arsenal of weapons, both offensively and defensively, proved too much for the Lions to handle. Despite having just two players finish with double digit scoring efforts, Pitt-Bradford had several others on the bubble.

Sophomore Madison Krebs remained a force in the low post shielding offenders away from the paint and cashing in with two points and six rebounds.

The game's final points came by way of a Lions' layup with no time left to equal the final score.

"I am very happy with tonight's win," said head coach Patrick Daniel. "We played very good defense, made shots and overall played with great effort and energy. Now we get ready for a very good La Roche team coming in here on Saturday."

Pitt-Bradford finished its night shooting 47.5 percent from the floor and a solid 100 percent (1-for-1) from the three-point line. The Panthers were 6-of-11 from the charity stripe.

Penn State Behrend shot just 30.4 percent from the field and 21.1 percent from behind the arc. The Lions were 6-of-10 from the line.

Pitt-Bradford turns its attention to La Roche, as the Redhawks come to town on Saturday, Jan. 11, for a 3 p.m. matchup at the KOA Arena.
