RIVER FOREST, Ill. – So far this season, the Edgewood College women's basketball team could not couple wins together, but two career nights on Tuesday changed that. Courtney Spangler and Brooke McBaindominated the post and scored career-highs in a 79-75 win over Dominican University, earning the Eagles their second straight win.

The first half did not start out promising as the Stars (0-13, 0-8 NACC) roared out to an 8-2 advantage. Later, Dominican's Allie Tapanes gave the Stars their largest lead of the game at seven before Edgewood College stormed back with an 11-2 run behind points by four different players. A jumper by Tapanes pulled Dominican within one at 34-33 but Edgewood College scored the final six points of the half to grab a 40-33 halftime advantage. Spangler scored 14 points and roped in seven rebounds before the break.

After the Stars cut their deficit to two, Edgewood College (5-9, 5-4 NACC) rallied behind back-to-back three-pointers from McBain and Sidney Peach to pull ahead by 11 and the Eagles looked like they were ready to set it in cruise control. Dominican was persistent, however, and fought back to tie the game at 52-52. Edgewood College again pulled ahead by seven, but the Stars climbed back to take a one-point lead with 2:31 to play. Dominican increased their lead to three after two more points from Tapanes, who scored a game-high 24, but Rachel Pope and McBain combined for four points in a row to earn a 76-75 lead. After missing two shots, the Stars were forced to foul and free throws by Chelsey Watkins and Mariah Hill sealed the win.

Spangler led Edgewood College with a career-high 23 points and 11 rebounds to record her first double-double as an Eagle. McBain poured in 14 of her career-high 20 in the second half while finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with a career-high nine. Spangler and McBain's career-night marked the first time since December 1, 2012 that two Edgewood College players scored at least 20 points in the same game. Pope grabbed eight boards to go along with 10 points and five assists while Hill also scored in double figures with 10.

The Eagles will look to keep their streak going as they host Concordia University Chicago on Saturday. Tipoff will be at 4:15 pm with live video and live stats available onEdgewoodCollegeEagles.com.
