DE PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert College shot nearly 58 percent from the floor en route to a 71-55 Midwest Conference win over Carroll University on Connie Tilley Court at Schuldes Sports Center.
The Green Knights (7-2, 4-0), playing their third game in five days, canned 26 of 45 field-goal attempts to shoot 57.8 percent from the floor. St. Norbert was also 16-for-18 (88.9 percent) at the free-throw line to help offset 25 turnovers.
St. Norbert led 21-20 after Carroll's Brianna Johnson drained a 3-pointer with 7:16 left before halftime. The Green Knights went on a quick 5-0 run on a Brianna Byrne basket and a 3-pointer by Jill Kleiman for a 26-20 edge with 5:04 to go.
Following a Carroll basket, the Green Knights closed out the half on an 8-0 run to take a 34-22 lead at halftime. Byrne had a pair of free throws, Morgan Heim a basket, and Tasha Giese scored two hoops during the run.
Carroll got to within nine points early in the second half at 36-27, but St. Norbert went on a 7-0 run - fueled by a basket and 3-pointer by Lana Tomashek - to take a 43-27 lead with 17:48 remaining. The Pioneers would never get closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Heim led St. Norbert with 14 points and matched a career-high with 11 rebounds. She also added six assists. Tomashek scored 13 points with five assists, while Byrne added 10 points off the bench.
Carroll shot 34.4 percent (21-for-61) from the floor and was outrebounded 40-22. Corrine Engels led the Pioneers with 17 points.
