Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team defeated visiting Shenandoah 76-49 in non-conference action on Wednesday night. The Saints improve to 6-3 on the year with the win.
Three Saints scored in double-figures, led by Kievanna Lacey with a game-high 20 while Aileen Maknati and Katelyn Fischer added 14 and 13, respectively. Fischer added 10 assists and five rebounds for her third double-double of the season.
Marymount opened the contest on an 8-0 run and held the Hornets (3-6) scoreless for the first four minutes of the game. Shenandoah responded with a 9-0 to take their only lead of the game before the Saints answered with a 31-8 run over the final 13:25 of the first half, including runs of 11-0 and 20-8, to take a 39-18 lead into halftime.
The Saints were on fire in the opening half, shooting a sizzling 65.2 percent from the floor including 83.3% from three-point range. Conversely, the Blue and White held Shenandoah to just 27.3% shooting with half of their six field goals coming from downtown.
In the second half, Marymount kept its lead above 20 points the majority of the way and never led by fewer than 18 points at any time in the stanza.
Imani Heggins led Shenandoah with 11 points.
Marymount returns to the hardwood on December 30 as it travels to face Rutgers-Newark on the road.
