(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Five Saints reached double-figure scoring as the seventh-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Chatham University, 96-52, today (Saturday, December 14, 2013) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at Oakland Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Saints improve to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the PAC. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 6-2 lead with 18:53 to play in the first half when junior guard Sydni Wainscott (Erlanger, Ky./Simon Kenton) made a jumper. Chatham used a 6-2 run to tie the game at 8-8 when Jesse Hinkel made a jumper with 17:21 to play in the half. The Saints answered with a 12-2 run to take a 20-10 lead with 14:15 to play in the opening half on a Wainscott three-pointer. The Cougars cut the lead to 20-14 with 13:10 to play in the opening half when Emily Schmidt made a lay-up to cap a 4-0 run. Thomas More closed out the half on a 26-6 run to take a 46-20 lead at halftime when sophomore guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) converted an old fashion three-point play.

The Saints opened the second half on a 39-12 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 85-32 when junior guard Stephanie Krusling (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas) made a lay-up with 7:14 to play in the game. Chatham closed the game on a 20-11 run, but it wasn't enough as Thomas More won the game, 96-52.

Thomas More shot 55.1 percent from the field (43-of-78) and had 26 assists, while also forcing 27 Cougar turnovers.

Moss led all scorers with 20 points. Joining her in double-figure scoring was sophomore forward Alexa Santamaria (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and junior forward Jenny Burgoyne (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) with 12 points each, Wainscott with 11 and senior guard Katie Kitchen (Alexandria, Ky./Campbell County) with 10. Moss also led the team on the boards with nine, while Burgoyne added six boards. Senior guard Devin Beasley (Burlington, Ky./Conner) led the team in assists with seven and Moss added five. Krusling and Moss led the team in steals with four each.

Thomas More is idle until Thursday (December 19) when it hosts the University of Chicago. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
