POULTNEY, Vt. – Four players reached double digits in scoring to lead Maine Maritime to an 87-34 win over Green Mountain in North Atlantic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Mariners improved to 4-4 overall, 2-2 NAC, while the Eagles fell to 1-7, 0-5.
Kari Jones and Cheyenne Molloy led all scorers for Maine Maritime with 17 points and had almost identical shooting performances in the victory. Each player hit 4-of-9 of her three-point attempts while corralling three rebounds. Bekah Campbell enjoyed a productive day in the post scoring 16 points and pulling down a game-high 13 boards. Leah Jackson added 13 points and Jillian Perron had a solid line with four points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Green Mountain received 14 points from Allison Wadsworth, who was 4-of-11 from the floor including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Amber Heath added nine points while Hayley Provost scored six and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
The Mariners' defense forced the Eagles into 27 turnovers, which they scored 33 points. Maine Maritime netted 46 points in the paint and score 20 second-chance points.
The Mariners return to action Dec. 31 at the Naismith Varsity Basketball Tournament at Springfield College.
