#12 Emory Continues Perfect Start with 74-38 win over Agnes Scott

The Emory University Women's Basketball Team won its seventh-consecutive game to open the 2013-14 campaign, defeating crosstown opponent Agnes Scott College 74-38 in Decatur, Georgia on Monday night.

With the win, the Eagles improved to 7-0 on the season, while the Scotties dropped to 0-8 with the loss.

Senior guard Savannah Morgan led the Eagles' attack with 15 points, coming on a five-for-seven shooting effort from the field, including three-for-four from three-point range.  Senior Marissa Resnick came off the bench to contribute with a career-high 13 points.

Morgan scored nine of her 15 points in the first half, while senior Selena Castillo and freshman Michelle Bevan added seven and six, respectively, to pace the Eagles to a 44-14 lead at halftime.  Emory shot 61.3% in the first half, including a71.4% (five-for-seven) from long range.

The Eagles maintained their lead in the second half, led by Resnick's 11 in the frame.  A layup by freshman Maggie Brown with 11:13 left to play put Emory up 39 points, the squad's largest lead of the game.  The Eagles would keep their lead above 30 for the remainder of the contest, en route to the win.

Emory shot 49.2% from the field for the game and 47.4% from beyond the three point arc.  Meanwhile, the Eagles' defense forced the Scots to commit 27 turnovers, and limited the squad to 33.3% shooting, including one-for-six from long range.

Emory will be off for finals before returning to action at the St. Petersburg Classic against Bridgewater College (Va.) on Friday, December 20th at 5:30 PM.
