Concordia Texas cruises to 87-53 win over Sul Ross State

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia University Texas women's basketball team used a balance scoring attack to roll past Sul Ross State, 87-53, on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Fieldhouse.

In all, fifteen players scored for the Tornados (4-2, 2-2 ASC), who shot 44.3 percent (33-of-75) from the floor. Additionally, Concordia Texas outscored the Lady Lobos (1-6, 0-4 ASC) 53-17 off the bench.

The Tornados never trailed in the contest and forced 24 turnovers. Sul Ross State also shot only 28.6 percent (16-for-56) from the field.

Margaret Milling paced CTX with 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor that included one 3-pointer. The Fort Worth native also was 1-for-1 from the free-throw line.

Tyler Compton chipped in with 11 points, while Shelby Stidham scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds off the bench.

Concordia's dominance in the contest also showed on the boards, where the Tornados held a 63-20 advantage. CTX also collected 24 offensive rebounds, which led to 26 second-chance points.

The Tornados led 26-13 before using a 22-8 run to grab a 27-point advantage at the half.

In the final frame, Concordia led by as much as 40 points after Kaytlynn Banks hit a pair of free throws with 5:07 remaining. The Lady Lobos nine of the final 12 points to finish with a 34-point deficit.

The Tornados will host rival Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14.
