Ursinus falls to F&M, 46-43

LANCASTER, Pa. – Held without a field goal over the final 5:47, Ursinus saw host Franklin & Marshall outscore them 7-1 as the Diplomats (2-4, 1-2 Centennial) eeked out a 46-43 win over the Bears (3-3, 2-2 Centennial) Tuesday evening in Centennial women's basketball action at the Mayser Center.

Ursinus held as much as an 11-point lead in the first half and led by two at halftime.

The Bears were led by nine points from sophomore guard Alyssa Polimeni, with sophomore forward Jessica Porada and freshman guard Olivia Kane each getting six.

Porada finished with nine rebounds as the Bears held a 46-38 edge on the glass, with a 19-11 offensive advantage. Sophomore forward Caroline Shimrock had eight rebounds for Ursinus.

F&M was led by Kristina McCarthy who had a game-high ten points and also grabbed eight rebounds.

The 11-point lead came with 8:11 left in the first half as Kane hit the second of back-to-back three-pointers to go up 18-7. From there, Ursinus saw the Diplomats close to within two at intermission, as McCarthy banged home a layup as the clock hit zero.

In the second half, F&M took its largest lead to date at 37-32 with 10:26 to go on a foul shot by Emma Lisle. Ursinus was able to battle back and retake the lead at 40-39 on a layup by senior forward Devin Butchko with 6:52 left.

Ursinus hosts McDaniel on Saturday at 3 p.m.
