Women's Basketball Blows Past Manhattanville 93-67

The New York University women's basketball team dropped Manhattanville College 93-67 on Wednesday night, November 20, at the Coles Sports Center in Manhattan. The Violets are now 3-0 on the young season and lead the Valiants 20-7-1 in the all-time series.

NYU received contributions from up and down the roster, as four Violets score in double figures, but were led by rookie forward Lindsey Oldshue. The freshman from Glenview, IL, scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting in just her third-ever collegaite contest, while adding eight rebounds. She led all Violets with 33 minutes played.

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Sophomore guard Riley Wurtz had her best game of the season, scoring 14 points with nine assists and eight rebounds, while going 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.

- Sophomore forward Megan Dawe was second on NYU with 16 points. She also pulled down seven boards.

- Junior point guard Melissa Peng dished out a career-high-tying 10 helpers on the night, while also scoring eight points.

- Freshman guard Kaitlyn Read, fresh off her MVP honors at the NYU Tip-Off Tournament, had a sound game as well. The University Park, TX, native poured in 14 points on 5-of-7 from the field, while registering four dimes.

- Alyson Caiazzo led the way for Manhattanville, scoring a team-high 15 points and registering a double-double with 16 rebounds.

The Violets will be back on the court this weekend when they travel to the College of New Rochelle on Saturday afternoon, November 23. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
