Strong Second Half Gives LC 69-44 Victory over Shenandoah

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Lynchburg College women's basketball team extended a nine-point second half lead into a 69-44 victory over Shenandoah University in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.

The Hornets led 31-23 at the break and held a 42-33 lead with 12:48 on the game clock. LC used a 10-0 run to push the lead to 19 and put the game out of reach.

Junior forward Shannon Allan scored 18 of her game-high 20 points in the first half, and hit 8-of-12 shots from the floor. Sammi Goldsmith filled up the box score with 12 points, seven assists, four rebounds and three steals. Chaney Forbush tallied six points, eight rebounds and four blocks and Charmaine Hairston scored nine points in just four minutes off the bench.

Crystal Petrus scored a game-high 16 points for Shenandoah (0-3/0-1 ODAC). Imani Heggins posted eight points and nine rebounds, and Holly Chittenden added six points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Lynchburg (1-2/1-0) travels to Meredith College Saturday for a non-conference game Saturday at 2 p.m.
