Andrade & Prusko Named to All-Tournament Team in, 69-57, Loss to UNE

Biddeford, Maine-Sophomore forward Vandell Andrade (Providence, RI) and senior guard Stephanie Prusko (Lincoln, RI) were each named to the All-Tournament Team as Rhode Island College lost to the University of New England, 69-57, in the championship game of 2013 Ramada Roundball Invitational, hosted by the Nor'Easters, at the Harold Alfond Forum on Saturday afternoon.

 

Andrade had 10 points, nine rebounds and four steals for the Anchorwomen (1-1) in the loss. Prusko finished with 11 points, three boards, three assists and three steals.

 

Sophomore guard Danielle LeBlanc (Warwick, RI) led the way offensively for the visitors with 19 points to go along with six assists, four rebounds and two steals.

 

The visitors found themselves trailing by three points, 28-25, at the break and were outscored, 41-32, in the second half to account for the 12-point margin.

 

Junior center Kelly Coleman (Portland, CT) equaled LeBlanc's scoring effort for the Nor'Easters (2-0). Sophomore guard Alanna Vose (Cushing, ME) chipped in with 16 points, while classmate Sadie DiPerro (South Portland, ME) contributed 12 points. Sophomore guard Lauren Hayden (Chantily, VA) pulled down a game-high 10 boards, while registering five assists and five steals.

 

Rhode Island College shot 33 percent (23-for-69) from the field, 35 percent (6-for-17) from three-point range and 71 percent (5-for-7) from the free throw line.

 

UNE shot 46 percent (25-for-54) from the field, 43 percent (6-for-14) from downtown and 72 percent (13-for-18) from the charity stripe.

 

RIC held a slight, 38-37, advantage in rebounding. Hayden was named the tourney's MVP and Coleman joined her on the All-Tournament Team.

 

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will travel to Emmanuel on Thursday, Nov. 21 (7:30 p.m.).
