FROSTBURG, Md. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team held King's (Pa.) College to 24.2 percent shooting from the field en route to a 63-47 victory in the championship game of the Frostburg State University Jim Crawley Tournament on Saturday.

Gettysburg (2-0) senior Caroline Murphy (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was named Most Valuable Player after putting up a dozen points, nine rebounds, and three assists in the title game. Senior Alyssa Isler (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) led the Bullets with 13 points after canning 5-of-6 field goals, including both three-point attempts, while senior Rianna Doane (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) recorded 11 points and three steals.

Shae Grim was King's (1-1) lone double-figure scorer with 14 points.

Gettysburg never trailed in the contest as Isler nailed her first shot attempt from distance to open the scoring. After the Monarchs' first bucket, the Bullets scored the next 10 points to establish a double-digit lead for the first time.

King's closed the gap to five (20-15) on a three-pointer by Tara Zdancewicz at 7:49. The Monarchs would get no closer as Gettysburg finished off the opening period on an 18-3 run. A three-pointer by Doane with five seconds left put the score at 38-18 heading into the break.

Gettysburg cruised in the second half as King's was unable to cut the lead below a dozen points. A three-pointer by senior Katie Earley (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Trinity) pushed the Bullets ahead by 23 (63-40) with 2:42 remaining.

King's made only 15-of-62 field goals and only 8-of-36 (22.2 percent) of its three-point attempts. Gettysburg canned 23-of-49 (46.9 percent) shots in the game, including 6-of-12 from beyond the arc.

Sophomore Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) scored eight points and classmate Emily Duggan (Marmora, N.J./Ocean City) chipped in with six points. Earley led the reserves with eight points.

Gettysburg makes its Centennial Conference debut at Ursinus College on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m.
