Emory senior Misha Jackson (Atlanta) and head women's basketball coach Christy Thomaskutty have been recognized for the Eagles' outstanding 2012-13 campaign with the pair seeing  postseason honors come their way.

Jackson was tabbed as a Division III Honorable Mention All-American as chosen by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) after turning in a big year that culminated in the program winning the University Athletic Association Championship and advancing to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.   A First Team All-UAA honoree, Jackson started all 28 games and paced both the team and the league in rebounding in overall (9.0 rpg) and conference (8.8 rpg) play.   The 5-foot-11 Jackson either led or shared for team rebounding honors in 10 of the last 13 and in a total of 20 games during the year.  She posted 11 double-figure rebounding contests including back-to-back efforts of 17 boards in the first two games of the season with that mark tying the 10^th-highest individual total in school history.  Offensively, she tallied 10 or more points on 19 occasions and her 11.1 per-game scoring average ranked third on the team and ninth among league performers.  She shot 50 percent or better from the floor in 14 games and her 49.2 percent showing (131-of-266) during the year placed her sixth on the conference chart.  She finished third in the league in blocked shots (1.5 bpg) and her 43 total rejections established a school season record.

Thomaskutty, who completed her 10^th year at helm of the program, was selected by D3hoops.com as South Region Coach of the Year as well as UAA Coach of the Year after directing Emory to an overall record of 24-4 with the victory total a school record.  The Eagles brought home their first-ever UAA title, finishing with a 12-2 slate that established another school mark for most wins in league play.  Her selection by her peers as the conference coach of the year was the first time that somebody from Emory had been selected for that honor.  Under her guidance, Emory earned its third-ever berth to the NCAA Tournament, the program's first postseason berth since 1997.  The Eagles hosted and won their first- and second-round games, sending them into the Round of 16 for the first time since 1997.  Emory set team season records in three-point field goals (176) and steals (405), and led the UAA in scoring (71.2 ppg), scoring defense (55.1 ppg), scoring margin (+16.1) and steals (14.5 spg).  Combined with last year's 18-7 record, Thomaskutty has overseen a total of 42 wins, the most productive two-year stretch in school history.
