Rams Fall in NCAA First Round at Amherst

#6 Amherst College - 67, Farmingdale State - 39


Amherst, Mass. - Farmingdale State was eliminated from the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament after falling 67-39 in their First Round game at Amherst. The Jeffs, who are 27-1 on the year, advanced to the Second Round where they will play host to The University of New England.

Amherst quickly jumped out to a 17-1 lead in the first six minutes of the game. The Rams (12-13) cut the deficit to 10, 27-17, before the Jeffs closed out the first half on a 12-3 run to take a 39-20 lead into the break.

The Jeffs extended their lead to 53-30 midway through the second half, before an 8-2 spurt gave Amherst a 29-point advantage, 61-32. The sixth-ranked team in the nation closed out the game allowing only seven points over the final 8:11 en route to the 67-39 victory.

Senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) led Farmingdale State with a team-high 16 points and three steals.

Senior forward Bridget Crowley (Hampden, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards to go along with four steals and four assists for Amherst.
