#13 LVC Uses First-Half Run To Pull Away At Alvernia Dutchmen Score 20 Of The Last 22 In First Half In 85-50 Win

Reading, Pa. (Dec. 8, 2012) - Thirteenth-ranked Lebanon Valley College (7-1, 4-1) used a 20-2 run to close the first half and took control on its way to an 85-50 win over Alvernia University (4-3, 2-2) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at the Physical Education Center.

The Crusaders got a pair of 3s from freshman Stevie Fortna (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon Catholic) and another from freshman Chelsea Ebersole (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra) during a five-minute run that turned a two-point deficit into a three-point lead with 10:49 left in the first half.

The Dutchmen got a jumper from Kerri Strolle and a 3 from Taylor Umbrell to spark the 20-2 run that lasted the last 9:51 of the half.  The Crusaders only bucket during the stretch was an inside bucket from Kayla Long (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) at the 6:00 mark.

LVC continued the run out of the halftime break with first nine points of the second half and held a comfortable margin the rest of the way.

LVC put four players in double figures led by Renee Fritz who totaled a game-high 18 points.  Fortna and Ebersole each scored 14 points to lead the Crusaders and Long finished with 10.

The Crusaders have a nice, long break for finals then the Christmas holiday and will next take the court Jan. 2 at Gettysburg College.
