NEW ROCHELLE, NY – For the sixth time in the last seven seasons, The College of New Rochelle and Yeshiva University met in the HVWAC Quarterfinals, and for the second consecutive season, the Blue Angels advanced, defeating the Lady Maccabees, 66-61, tonight in The Wellness Center on the CNR campus.

With the win, the Blue Angels advance to take on top-seeded Albany College of Pharmacy in the semifinals, with the game scheduled to tip-off at 6:00 p.m. in The Wellness Center.

After an emotional and hard-fought loss to St. Joseph's College on Tuesday night, CNR came out of the gates a little flat.  Yeshiva took advantage of the Blue Angels' lack of early energy, scoring the game's first six points and extending the lead to as many as 11, 17-6, following a Rita Gordon jumper with 12:12 remaining in the opening stanza.

At that point the Blue Angels came alive, putting together a 16-0 run, capped by a Jesmin Peters jumper, to take a five point lead, 22-17, with 7:36 left before the break.  The Lady Macs were able to respond, closing out the half with a 15-2 run to take a 32-24 lead into the locker room.

CNR opened the second half with a sense of purpose, outscoring Yeshiva 14-4 over the first over the first four minutes to take a lead the Blue Angels did not relinquish.  CNR opened a lead that did not grow larger than six points until a three pointer from Alyssa Pechin gave the Blue Angels a nine point, 56-47, lead with 7:30 left in the game.  The lead did not drop below six until the final points of the game.

Jasmine Brandon led all scorers with a game-high 22 points, adding 10 rebounds, five steals, three blocks and two assists.  The double-double was her 12th of the season.
Pechin tallied 13 points, and game-highs of seven assists and six steals.
