Pointers lead Blue Devils from start to finish at Stevens Point

MENOMONIE (February 13, 2013) - UW-Stevens Point led from top to bottom on their way to 78-51 win over UW-Stout Wednesday at Berg Gym.

The Pointers (19-5, 11-4 WIAC) built a 12-6 lead over the first five mintues of the game, then went on a 13-0 run over the next five minutes to take control. The Pointers held a 42-27 hafltime lead.

Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn) scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the first half to lead Stout (10-14, 4-11 WIAC). Boomer was the only Blue Devil in double figures.  Kayla Windt (Sr, Pence) finished with eight points, as did Kyleigh Hebert (Fr, Spencer). Sami Schoeder (Jr, Durand) had seven rebounds.

The Pointers' were led by Myranda Tyler's 19 points. Sam Barber finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Stout shot 28.1 percent (18-64) for the game from the floor, while the Pointers shot 46.7 percent (28-60).

Stout will close out the season when they host UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Feb. 16 at approximately 6 p.m.
