WILMINGTON -- Senior Joanna Snyderbecame the 11th member of the 1,000 point club, as the No. 4 Ohio Northern women's basketball team topped Wilmington by a 63-48 scored on Wednesday evening at Fred Raizk Arena.

The Polar Bears are now 23-1 on the season and a perfect 17-0 in OAC play. The Quakers fall to 14-10, 10-7.

ONU has now won a school record 22 games in a row. The 23 wins on the year is also tied for the most in program history.

Snyder sunk a free throw with 6:38 remaining for her 1,000th career point. She finished with nine points on the evening and now has 1,001 for her career.

Senior Katie Mengos led ONU with a game high 11 points and six rebounds, while junior Cenzie Yoder and sophomoreJordan Kimes each added 10.

The Polar Bears scored the first nine points of the game to build an early lead.

Northern would push the lead to 13-2 on a jumper from Snyder at the 13:41 mark of the first half.

The Quakers countered with a 6-2 run, to cut the ONU lead to 15-8 with 12:13 remaining in the first half.

ONU would push its lead to 28-14 with 5:55 left in the first half, on a three pointer from junior Taylor Hermiller.

The Polar Bears would take a 34-23 lead into the half.

A jumper by Kimes with 14:05 left in the game capped off a 17-7 run to begin the second half and put ONU in control with a 51-30 lead.

The Quakers would get no closer than 15 points the rest of the evening.

Northern was 26-of-58 (44.8 percent) from the field, while Wilmington shot 21-of-55 (38.2 percent).

WC won the rebounding battle by a slim 35-34 margin.

ONU also scored 21 points off of turnovers, while the Quakers only scored four.

Ohio Northern will be in action again on Saturday when it hosts Capital at 3 pm. The Polar Bears will also honor their seniors before the game.
