Arlington, Va. – Marymount University's women's basketball team won its sixth-straight game with a 53-44 victory over visiting York (Pa.) in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening. The Saints push their winning-streak to six-straight and improve to 17-4 overall and 7-1 in league play.
Katelyn Fischer led the Saints with a game-high 20 points while Kievanna Lacey added 12. Fischer and Lacey both also hauled down seven rebounds along with Tynisha Parks to tie for the team lead.
Parks added a game-best four steals while Lacey chipped in three.
Marymount controlled the opening half, outshooting the Spartans 46.4 percent to 26.3% in the frame. The Saints began the game on a 6-1 run and led by as many as 17 before taking a 30-15 lead into halftime.
York (16-5, 5-3 CAC) would chip away at the Marymount lead in the second half and pull within single digits with six minutes remaining in the game. The Saints would stave off the Spartan comeback, not allowing their guests to get closer than five points away with under a minutes remaining before sealing the win on the free throw line.
Kristen Haley led York with 17 points.
Marymount returns to the hardwood on Saturday as it travels to face CAC rival Mary Washington in a battle for sole possession of first place in the league standings.
