The Pitt-Bradford women's basketball team built a 19-point halftime lead and made enough plays late to defeat Mount Aloysius 73-64 Saturday for its second straight win.

The victory inched the Panthers closer to securing a first-round home game in the AMCC postseason tournament. The Mounties entered the day trailing Pitt-Bradford by a half-game in the conference standings for fourth place.

It was a stark contrast from the first meeting in which Pitt-Bradford erased an 11-point second half deficit and scored the game-winning basket with 21 seconds left to steal a victory.

The Panthers shot 53 percent in the opening half, making 17 field goals in all, and outscored the Mounties 15-4 over the final 3:49 to take a commanding 39-20 lead into halftime. Madison Krebs fueled the start, hitting all six of her attempts from the floor, including a layup inside right before the half ended.

Mount Aloysius pulled within 12 at the 14:36 mark of the second half only to see the Panthers answer with five straight points of their own. Lindsey Sammarco's basket with 9:11 remaining trimmed the advantage to single digits, and a 6-0 run made it 55-52 Pitt-Bradford with six minutes left.

Sierra Conley extended the lead to five on a jumper along the baseline, and after a Mountie basket, Alicia Kimmel banked in a three-pointer from the top of the key to stretch it to seven, 60-53, with 4:28 left. Mount Aloysius responded with another basket, but Pitt-Bradford scored five straight to pull away for good. The Panthers went 6-8 from the line over the final minute to ice the game.

Pitt-Bradford finished the day shooting 49 percent and went 10-14 from the line. The Panthers hit 29 field goals and totaled a season-high 20 assists. They outrebounded the Mounties by eight and never trailed. Mount Aloysius shot 41 percent from the field and hit only five three-pointers after connecting for seven in the first meeting.

Allison Osborne had a game-high 19 points, and Krebs added 14 points and eight rebounds. Kimmel chipped in with 13 points and Geena Sneeringer had 10. Melanie Yantesko pulled in seven boards and five players had three or more assists.

Pitt-Bradford improves to 12-9 on the season and 10-5 in the AMCC. The women host D'Youville Monday, the start of a three-game homestand to end the regular season.
