Baruch Defeats Lehman Ahead of Winter Storm Nemo, Post 80-53 Victory

The Baruch College Bearcats defeated the Lightning of Lehman College, 80-53, in a CUNYAC contest played on Friday afternoon in the Bronx, New York.

The two teams were initially scheduled to start at 5:00 pm, but the conference game was moved up to 3:00 pm to help avoid as much as possible the winter storm called Nemo.

Lehman started strong and led 11-4 four minutes into the game, but the Bearcats took control with an explosive offensive surge that saw them go on a 50-20 run to end the first half with a 54-31 lead.

They kept the pressure on in the second half en route to the 80-53 victory to improve to 22-2 overall and 14-1 in the CUNYAC.

The Bearcats shot 54.3 percent (19-for-35) in the opening half and finished the game shooting 44.8 percent (30-for-67). They shot 7-for-19 from 3-point range and used their defense to score 25 points off 18 Lehman turnovers.


Francess Henryled the victory with a career-high 29 points (11-17 fg), seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. Sheridan Taylorrecorded her sixth double-double of the season with 21 points (9-12 fg), 11 rebounds and four steals.

Jessica Dulebarecorded her eighth double-double of the season and second straight with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lightning, who connected on 12 total 3-pointers in the game, was led by Keonti Powell with 23 points.

Baruch will finish their regular season schedule on Tuesday, February 12, with a 5:30 pm CUNYAC home contest on Senior Night against Medgar Evers College.
