Golden Eagles Earn Road Win at Farmingdale State

St. Joseph's - 74, Farmingdale State - 56


Farmingdale, N.Y. - St. Joseph's had four double-digit scorers as they earned a 74-56 Skyline victory at Farmingdale State this evening. The Golden Eagles improved to 12-10 overall and 6-5 in conference play, while the Rams fell to 9-10, 7-4.

With a tied score 6-6, St. Joe's scored 15 straight points to take a 21-6 lead with 7:55 left in the first half. The Rams cut the deficit to eight (25-17) over the next four minutes, but would trail 29-17 at the break.

In the second, St. Joe's increased their lead to 22 points at the 15 minute mark and would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the way, as they shot 54-percent from the field and hit 6-of-8 shots from long range.

The Rams were led by junior guard Nicky Young (Queens, N.Y.) who had game-highs of 24 points and eight steals. Senior guard Nikita Green (Roosevelt, N.Y.) finished with 15 points, six assists and six steals.

For the Golden Eagles, junior forward Danielle Hamlin (Centereach, N.Y.) nearly scored a triple-double as she finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Junior guard Laura Cohen (Smithtown, N.Y.) posted a team-high 21 points, along with seven rebounds and four assists, while senior forward Amanda Bender (East Northport, N.Y.) finished with 17 points and 10 boards. Senior guard Ashley Larrea (Medford, N.Y.) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Farmingdale State will travel to face Purchase College for another conference game on Saturday, February 9th at 12:00 p.m.
