Junior Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) scored 22 points with 9 assists and 6 steals while senior Mariah Mouzon (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) added 20 points and nine rebounds as Keuka College's women's basketball team defeated Penn State-Abington 76-64 Sunday afternoon for its 10th straight win.
Bandrowski made 9 of 16 shots from the floor as the Storm (16-2, 13-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference) shot 50.7 percent (34-for-67) while remaining in first place in the NEAC North Division.
Mouzon made 8 of 14 shots while sophomore Erica Pendrak (Utica, NY/New York Mills) scored 14 points on 7 of 11 shooting to power the Green and Gold inside the Weed Physical Arts Center.
Junior Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney) filled out the stat sheet with 8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals while Bandrowski had six steals as Keuka registered 13 steals and forced 17 Abington (8-11, 6-6) turnovers.
With her 20-point performance, Mouzon sits 44 points shy of becoming the 10th student-athlete in school history with 1,000 career points.
Pendrak and Bandrowski each made two early layups and Mouzon had a three-point play as the Storm surged out to a 13-2 lead four minutes in.
Abington, playing with only six student-athletes, answered with a 16-4 run, capped by a '3' from Jaclyn Vandiver to pull within 18-17 with 9:31 remaining in the opening half.
The schools were tied at 26 before Bandrowski made a '3', Mouzon made a jumper and added a three-point play to give the Storm a 34-27 lead. Bandrowski and Gravel each made fast-break layups to extend the lead to 38-27, and Keuka took a 40-29 lead into halftime after scoring 24 points in the paint with 10 fast-break points.
Mouzon knocked down two jumpers to give Keuka a 50-34 lead with 15:39 remaining, but Abington scored the next 12 points to pull within four, 50-46.
Leading 57-54, junior Taylor Szwec (Candor, NY/Candor) hit a jumper, Mouzon swished a pair of free throws and Bandrowski added a '3' and a fast-break layup for a 66-56 lead with 7:41 to play.
Keuka led by at least eight points down the stretch and breezed to its 10th straight win, all in conference play.
Trish Watson scored 23 points while Jessica Schmidt had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Nittany Lions.
Keuka returns to action with a 6 p.m. Senior Night contest Wednesday against Cazenovia College. The Storm handed the Wildcats a 90-70 setback on Jan. 23.
