BUFFALO, NY--The Medaille College Lady Mavericks hosted rival Penn State-Altoona Saturday afternoon in the Sullivan Center and after forcing a season high (30) turnovers, finished the game with a (92-35) defeat of the Lions.

The Lady Mavericks jumped out to an early start in the first half and never looked back. Early in the half, the Mavericks went on a (17-0) run which included seven points from Alicia Montalvo during that stretch. The Mavericks tough defense allowed only six points for the Lions in the final 9:25 of the half. At the half, the Mavericks led 49-21 and had a big edge in 3-pointers hitting (6 of 9) for (66.7%) percent.

In the second half, the Lady Mavericks continued the up tempo offense. The opened the half on a (16-4) run which included six straight points from Joelle Pollak when she hit back to back 3-pointers. The Mavericks held the Lions to only (14) points in the second half on (6 of 21) shooting for (28.6.%) percent. The Lady Mavericks shot (45.9%) percent from the field and totaled (43) second half points.

Leading the Mavericks was Tara Caples who had a career high (18) points, which also led the team. She chipped in (7) total rebounds, including two on the offensive side of the ball. Pollak added (16) points along with (6) assists for the night. Montalvo finished the game with (11) total points and pulled down (4) rebounds. Leading the team in rebounds was Meghan Fahy who finished the game with (9) rebounds, which included (7) in the second half.

The Lady Mavs (13-8. 11-3) will host the D'Youville Spartans Wednesday at the Sullivan Center at 6 p.m. and hope to build off of this big victory.
