Worcester, MA --- Theresa Logan (Southboro, MA) collected her third double-double of the season and eighth of her career to lift WPI to a 57-42 victory over Springfield in a NEWMAC women's basketball match-up on Saturday afternoon.

WPI improves to 12-8 overall and is now 8-6 in league action.  The Engineers sit alone in fourth place in the 10-team conference and have a three-game lead over the three teams that are tied for the sixth and final NEWMAC Tournament bid.  Springfield dips to 3-17 on the season and 1-13 in NEWMAC play.

Logan keyed a 10-0 WPI run with eight points as the Engineers broke a 2-2 deadlock and grabbed a lead it would not relinquish.  The Crimson and Gray used a stingy defense to open up an 18-point halftime advantage (32-14), holding the Pride to just five made field goals in the opening 20 minutes.

Springfield clawed back in the second half and drew as close as eight points twice, with the last time at 46-38 on a Emily Gins (Fort Myers, FL layup with just under five minutes left but the Engineers canned 8-of-10 free throws in the final minute to secure the victory.

Logan ended with 12 points and a season-best 14 rebounds.  Kelly Morgan (Brookline, NH) also contributed 12 points, including four 3-pointers, which equaled her career-high.  Dani Davis (East Granby, CT) stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a pair of steals. Siena Mamayek (Melrose, MA) provided a boost off the bench with eight points and six rebounds while Rachel Pineda (Shrewsbury, MA) doled out a game-high five assists.

Meghan Biondolillo (Levittown, NY) led the Springfield charge with nine points and four rebounds while Tamara Tribble (White Plains, NY) had a solid all-around game with seven points and eight rebounds.  Gins provided a team-best 11 rebounds to go along with six rebounds while Jessie Klauer (Lunenburg, MA) paced the Pride with four assists.

WPI hits the road on Wednesday, traveling to Mount Holyoke while Springfield returns home to face Coast Guard the same evening.  Both contests start at 7pm.
