La Roche Clinches Playoff Berth With Victory Over Mt. Aloysius

CRESSON, PA – Jessica Pitts recorded her twelfth double-double of the season and Casie Cyganscored a game-high 26 points in the Lady Redhawks (17-2, 12-1) 74-65 win over Mt. Aloysius on Wednesday night. La Roche clinches its sixth consecutive playoff berth with the victory.

La Roche went on an 11-0 run early in the second half after Mt. Aloysius kept it close all throughout the first twenty minutes. Cygan led the way with 18 second half points and the Lady Redhawks shot 53% from the field and forced 12 turnovers on 9 steals.  

Pitts and Cygan both had terrific games to inch closer to 1000 points. Pitts finished with 16 points, 18 rebounds, and 5 assists and currently sits at 986 points while Cygan added 26 points on 10 of 15 shooting to increase her total to 965 points.

Shataya White scored 11 points to reach double figures for the third consecutive game. Leslie McPherson played all 40 minutes and finished with 7 points and 5 assists and Amanda Garlandhad 9 points for the Lady Redhawks.

La Roche outrebounded the host Mounties 41-34 and they held them to just 17% (3 of 18) from behind the arc. The Lady Redhawks also kept their opponent under 70 points for the fifth consecutive game.

La Roche women's basketball returns to action on Saturday at 1:00PM when they travel to Pitt-Bradford. The Lady Panthers come into the contest winners of three straight and boast one of the best defenses in the AMCC.
