Box Score
BUFFALO, NY - The Medaille women's basketball team took a quick break from its AMCC schedule when they hosted Hamilton College this evening in the Sullivan Center. A tough second half by the Lady Mavs saw an eight point halftime lead turn into a (68-58) loss to the Continentals.
The highlight of the evening came with (2:54) remaining in the first half when Joelle Pollak knocked down a three pointer for her tenth point of the night. The bucket gave the Lady Mavs a four point lead, but more importantly, it gave her (1,000) points for her career. She becomes the sixth Medaille woman to reach the milestone and she leap frogged her way from 4th to 6th place on the all-time scoring list with (1,009) points. She netted a team high (19) points in the loss.
The Lady Mavs held a (36-28) lead at the break, but a slow start to the second half would doom their hopes of a seventh straight victory. The Lady Mavs were held scoreless for the first (8:13) of the second while their eight point lead turned into a seven point deficit. They would never regain the lead as Hamilton stertched its advantage to as many as a dozen points.
Rookie Brittnee Perry chipped in with (13) points while matching a team best (9) rebounds, six of which came off the offensive glass. Sophomore Morgan Howe also grabbed (9) boards. Turnovers would play a huge role in the loss as Hamilton turned (19) Medaille miscues into (20) points. The Lady Mavs were only able to force the visitors into (10) turnovers, which turned into nine points for Medaille.
The loss drops Medaille to (11-6) on the season. They will have little time to dwell on the game as they get right back into conference play when they head to Hilbert College tomorrow (1/23) for a 6:00pm matchup with the Hawks.
