LEXINGTON, Ky. – Transylvania's Nicole Coffman matched her career high with 30 points Saturday andKatelyn Smith set a new high with 27, powering the Pioneers over Anderson 87-61  in women's Heartland Conference play at the Beck Center.
 
The Pioneers improved to 13-4, 9-1 HCAC after posting their fifth win in a row. The Ravens are 4-13, 3-7 in conference play. Transy maintained its one-game lead in the conference race.
 
Transy led by 13 points at halftime and by as many as 30 over the final 20 minutes as Coffman scored 16 of her 30 points and Smith added 12 of her 27. The Pioneers also got 14 points from Madisen Webb and five points and nine rebounds from Alex Botkin.
 
Coffman was 10 of 19 from the field and Smith was 11 of 16. Coffman ran her streak of consecutive free throws made to 30 before missing one at the 7:53 mark of the second half. She finished 10 of 11 from the line while Smith was two for two. She has an active free throw string of 15 in a row.
 
Amy Wuestefeld had 15 points and Ashley Wuestefeld added 13 to pace the Ravens. Anderson shot 40 percent from the field (24 of 59) and just 10 of 20 from the free throw stripe.
 
Transy canned 30 of 56 (54 percent) and was 22 of 28 from the charity stripe. Transy also had a 41-31 edge on the boards and forced Anderson into 14 turnovers while committing 12.
 
Transylvania used a 19-5 run to establish a 16-point lead, 42-26, at the 1:34 mark of the first half. With Smith scoring 15 points and Coffman 14, the Pioneers led at the break, 42-29.
 
Transy was 14 of 27 for 52 percent from the floor in the half, while Anderson hit 12 of 31 for 39 percent. The Pioneers offset a 9-3 disadvantage from three-point range with a 13-2 edge in free throw scoring. Amy Wuestefeld led the Ravens with 11 points in the half.
 
Transy will take to the road for its next game, a 7:30 p.m. encounter Wednesday with Franklin.
