Hartford, Conn. – Four different Bantams scored in double figures and the Trinity College women's basketball team held the visiting Colby College Mules to 32.7 percent field-goal shooting (16-49) in a 58-50 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) win this evening at Oosting Gymnasium. Trinity improves to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in the NESCAC with its fourth win in a row and its first triumph against the Mules since 2009, while the Mules drop to 6-9 overall and 1-3 in the league with their third setback in a row.

"This was a great win for us," said Trinity Head Coach Wendy Davis. "These players had never beaten Colby prior to tonight. Hannah Brickley was a beast for us inside"

Colby senior tri-captain guard Diana Manduca (Portland, Maine) drilled a three-pointer on the first Mule possession, but a layup by junior center Emily Dixon (Norwood, Mass.) and a three-pointer by rookie guard Christina Raiti (Plainview, N.Y.) gave Trinity the lead at 5-3 just under three minutes into the game, and the Bantams did not relinquish it. The Bantams lead increased to 11-3 after another bucket by Dixon, and jumped to 25-7 with 7:23 on the clock after a put-back by junior Moriah Sweeney (Ramsey, N.J.). The Bantams finished the first half with a 22-14 edge on the boards, a 50 percent field-goal percentage (16-32), and a 36-18 lead. Bantam junior forward Taylor Murtaugh (New York, N.Y.) scored all 12 of her 12 points in the first half.

Trinity continued its impressive play after intermission, and led, 46-23, after a layup by sophomore forward Hannah Brickley (Melrose, Mass.) less than five minutes into the second half. Colby went on a 13-2 run later in the half to cut the Bantam advantage to 52-42 after a trey by Manduca with 7:45 on the clock, but four straight points by Sweeney on a layup and a pair from the charity stripe pushed the Trinity lead back up to 14 with five minutes remaining. The Mules scored eight of the game's final 10 points and pulled within single digits with 1:06 left on a long ball by freshman forward Desi Smith (Watertown, Wisc.), but the Bantams held the ball for most of the final minute.

Brickley and Murtaugh each had 12 points and five rebounds, while Murtaugh also dished out five assists. Junior forward Shantel Hanniford (Nantucket, Mass.) scored 11 points with five boards and four assists, while Sweeney totaled 10 points and a team-high six boards. Junior guard Jen Nale (Belgrade, Maine) paced the visitors with 11 points, while Manduca added 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists, smith scored 10 points, and sophomore forward Brooke Chandor (Barrington, Ill.) recorded eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
